«UNESCO» and Talal Abu-Ghazaleh Global (TAG.Global) launched the new Information and Communications Technology (ICT) Indicators in Education for the Arab world. The project aims to develop uniform international standards to measure the use and impact of ICT in Arab education, as well as the role it plays in the development and implementation ofeducational policies.
Despite the significant variations of ICT application in education across the region, there is a common aspiration to maximize the benefit gained from the new information and communication technology. This is done through effective management of schools and the educational process by providing students with 21st century skills, while emphasizing higher national issues related to ICT.
An ICT consultant oversees the implementation of the project with officers in charge within the ministries of education in selected countries. He or she ensures that information and statistics are delivered to UNESCO’s International Statistics Office for review and revision and will draft a detailed report by the end of this year.
